Tioman Island (Pulau Tioman) Malaysia – we woke up in paradise

Having done very little research on this Island off the east coast of the peninsular of Malaysia, there for having very little expectations, we woke up in the morning to exactly what the doctor holiday fairy ordered, a perfect little 20km long and 12km wide paradise. We are staying in Johans Resort, $30 per night for 2 double beds and a bathroom in a very basic chalet on a hillside, locked in for 2 nights. We headed down for a early breakfast in the beach front Johans Cabana. We were hit with a stunning coastline, pristine waters, palm trees, tropical breezes and sunshine. Appropriately named ‘Willkomen’ who works at Johans helped us with our bearings and quickly invited kid 3 to meet with the local children for a game of soccer this afternoon. We spent the day discovering the Air Batang side of the Island, which is where we are staying, a palm and tropical forest drenched stretch of path approx. 2km long with accommodation, restaurants & bars. Then we briefly popped over to Tekek the more developed side of the island (cars allowed), luxury resorts, sealed roads to do some basic shopping and hit the 1 & only ATM. We found out Tioman is a duty free Island…just another bonus. We came across lots of monkeys in Air Batang living over a creek and many more hanging out along the newly developed but mostly abandoned shoreside. We had a late lunch at Nazris Place, the largest development on the Air Batang side followed by watching kid 3 have a game of soccer. Magical day 1 in Tioman 🙂 please follow this link to see more photos https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.458670804299062.1073741851.441531179346358&type=3
