We hit the hired vehicle, dirt cheap from Atlas Rentals and braved the roads in Sydney town to meet up with my girlfriend Miss K and her scrumptious little family to experience Nielson Parks Shark Beach, located in Vaucluse one of Sydneys favourite picnic grounds. A Quick stop off at the Chinatown markets for fresh dips and handmade gozleme from the little traditional restaurant at the top right hand of the escalators and we were off.
Shark Beach was perfectly picturesque in so many ways, city scape scenery, glistening waters, beautiful people, rocks to explore, grassy spots for people who cant cope with sand…locals and regulars Mahlia, Banjo, Gabriel and Mila introduced us to squashing ‘Pee Pads’ (sponge-like pads growing on the rocks) with our feet, which inturn squirted us with warm water. With our great big group enjoying this so much, we managed to create new interest and spotted a fairy penguin off the rocks in the process. My friend Miss K with her foghorn bellow alerted everyone to the apparently rare scene 😛
We had a beautiful day, heads up – as we were leaving to head back to the tent in Lane Cove to pack…picnic baskets with bottles of wine were making their way to this spot…this would have been a killer way to welcome in the sunset.
Thanks Miss K and fam, cant wait to do it again.
